Re: Stopping ads on Windows 10

I am so close to being able to stop using Windows entirely, but in the meantime, I encountered a new ad type: backup service advertisements! It's bad enough that Microsoft automatically spies on your computer usage, now they want you to automatically send your files to them too! :D Anyhow, this shou...

Make time/clock compatible between Windows/Linux (multi-boot)

Windows by default wants your hardware clock to be in local time, while sensible operating systems expect everything to be in UTC so that systems are consistent no matter where they are. Fortunately, Windows can be modified so that you don't have to reset the system time every time you switch betwee...

New Service: Etherpad!

Etherpad is basically a super simple Google Docs. That's probably a shitty way to describe it but whatever. I want to do some experiments with it, and it can be useful for collaboration or even just brief usage to share things. I do not promise not to look at what it is used for, or to keep things u...

Re: Education about AI

Summarizing info from the following video: - New research (attribution graphs) shows that LLMs do have internal reasoning, but this is heuristic-based, not cognition. - LLMs do each prediction (response) separately, and thus lie about how they work - they exhibit no self-awareness. - A specific exam...

! request whitelisting of attachment file extensions/types here !

Because I'm lazy, I want to disable all attachment type restrictions, but this software only allows whitelisting specific extensions. I've enabled all the default ones it recognizes, but if you want to upload something and it's blocked, reply here and I'll add it.

Stopping ads on Windows 10

I used this source to create a registry file to hopefully remove Windows 11 ads from Windows 10. This guide is also useful for making registry files to make such changes easier. You shouldn't trust a file you find online without checking it, but I'm including that registry file as an attachment beca...

"less lethal" is an unfortunate euphemism

You may remember hearing tasers, beanbag rounds, pepper spray, and other such weapons as nonlethal. This was a lie to hide from an inconvenient truth: Human bodies are extremely good at compensating for serious injury or illness. These things have since been rebranded as "less lethal", whi...
